Some folks think that this type of coverage is a scam of some kind. They assume that it isn’t essential. However, the law requires it, so you really shouldn’t go without it. You may not be happy about having to buy it, but it could save you if you get into a car accident while you’re south of the border. It would be best if you didn’t go to jail as long as you can show the cops you have coverage. Of course, if the accident is your fault, you’ll have to pay your full coverage deductible, which will be way cheaper than paying for it all out of your pocket.
