Mexican auto insurance online from Mexican Insurance Store – The Dos and Don’ts of Shared Driving in Mexico

A long trip to the tip of Baja or into mainland Mexico can be tiring, making it helpful to be able to share your driving responsibilities with others. You may wonder about how different drivers affect your Mexico insurance online from Mexican Insurance Store as you go. It is helpful to note that pricing for your Mexican car insurance is based on the vehicle rather than the drivers. However, there are some limitations on who can drive your vehicle.

Unlimited Qualified Drivers with Mexico Insurance online from Mexican Insurance Store

Because your Mexican car insurance is specific to the vehicle rather than the driver, you can share the driving responsibilities without worrying about whether another driver is covered. However, there are some basic terms related to those drivers. They must be at least 21 years of age, and they must possess valid driver’s licenses. An infringement on either of these two issues could result in your coverage being lost if you are in an accident. Mexico is full of wide, open spaces, and areas such as Highway 1 through Baja can be sparse in terms of traffic at times. It might be tempting to allow an underage driver to practice or to take some of the driving responsibilities. However, a less experienced driver in an unfamiliar setting with foreign road signs would be a serious increase in risk. It’s not worth risking the financial and legal implications by jeopardizing your Mexico auto insurance coverage.

Driver Behavior

As a driver, you are expected to obey the laws of the land. It’s important to familiarize yourself with the comparison between miles and kilometers since Mexican road signs feature metric measurements. It is also important to note that driving while impaired is equally dangerous and illegal in Mexico. An accident that occurs while a driver is impaired can result in the revocation of your Mexican auto insurance policy. Legal support can be important in accident situations, especially in cases of serious accidents with injuries or deaths. Your Mexican car insurance online from Mexican Insurance Store provides for legal assistance and bail coverage, but an incident in which you are responsible due to impairment can result in loss of that legal support.

The advantage of Mexican auto insurance is that it is based on the car rather than the driver. Shared responsibility is not a problem with Mexican Insurance Store. I always do this with my wife when traveling by road from Canada to Ensenada.
